Given this crucial function, it’s important that you ensure the proper operation of your temperature and pressure relief valve at all times. This release of water prevents the water heater from exploding due to excess pressure and temperature. When it opens, hot water comes rushing out of the water heater and through the temperature and pressure relief valve drain pipe. If the internal pressure in your hot water heater reaches or exceeds 150 pounds per square inch, or if the temperature of the water exceeds 210 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature and pressure relief valve will open. What Is an Overflow PipeĪ temperature and pressure relief valve does just what its name suggests: relieves temperature and pressure from a water heater. Keep reading to learn more about water heater leaks and what to do specifically if you notice a leak coming from the pipe attached to this valve. However, this pipe is actually what’s known as a temperature and pressure relief valve drain pipe. Since the condensate overflow pipe for air conditioners looks similar, the vertical pipe on water heaters is often confused for an overflow pipe. In some cases, you may notice a leak coming from what looks like an overflow pipe attached to your water heater. In addition to causing water damage in the area around the water heater, a water leak typically indicates a more serious problem with your San Antonio water heater. I have no idea how well this works, either, since we don't have them around my part of the world. I also understand that there are companies that use either air or water pressure to "clear" drainfield lines. If it doesn't clear it, you may have to replace a line or two anyway, or you're going to have major backup problems, especially when it rains. It will help only if your problem is biodegradeable grease and crud buildup. Please let me know how that Amerisep works. NCSU also says that the only regular maintenance needed for septic systems is to have the tank pumped at least every five years. Please be aware, however, that clogged drainfield lines also can be caused by compaction (vehicles and equipment driven over it) or by clogging from years of buildup of non-biodegradeable solids that bacteria and enzymes won't touch.roots, feminine products, cig butts and other stuff that accidentially gets into the field lines. ![]() It may be much stronger than the usual additives, and anything with enzymes in it is good for septic systems. If this one has a money-back guarantee, you might give it a shot anyway. Normal usuage should introduce plenty of bacteria to make it function properly. My aunt owned a trailer park with septic systems and she recommended that once a month to put baking soda into each commode and sink and wash it down, then 15 days later put a package of yeast in the sink and wash it down with really hot water.
